CROATIA TRAFFIC LAWS AND RESTRICTIONS - SPEED LIMITS
15.06.2008. NEW TRAFFIC LAW: Croatian gouvernment started with extremly high traffic fines. For speeding you can pay fine up to 15000 HRK (2069 EUR). For driving under alcohol you can also recieve expensive fine or go to jail up to 60 days.
SPEED LIMITS IN POPULATED AREAS:
• Allowed speed: 50 km/h
• Tolerance: 10%
• Speeding to 10 km/h: 300 HRK (41 EUR),
• Speeding for 10-20 km/h: 500 HRK (69 EUR),
• Speeding for 20-30 km/h: 1000 HRK (138 EUR),
• Speeding for 30-50 km/h: 2000 HRK (276 EUR),
• Speeding for over 50 km/h: 5000-15000 HRK (690-2069 EUR) or up to 60 days of prison.SPEED RESTRICTIONS OUTSIDE POPULATED AREAS:
• Allowed speed on freeways: 130 km/h,
• Allowed speed on motorways: 110 km/h,
• Allowed speed on other roads: 90 km/h,
• Tolerance: 10%.
• Speeding to 10 km/h: 300 HRK (41 EUR),
• Speeding for 10-30 km/h: 500 HRK (69 EUR),
• Speeding for 30-50 km/h: 1000 HRK (138 EUR),
• Speeding over 50 km/h: 3000-7000 HRK (414-965 EUR).DRIVING UNDER ALCOHOL & DRUGS:
- Allowed amount of alcohol: 0,50 ‰
• Amount of alcohol 0,50-1,00 ‰: 1000-2000 HRK (138-276 EUR),
• Amount of alcohol 1,00-1,50 ‰: 2000-5000 HRK (276-690 EUR),
• Amount of alcohol over 1,50 ‰ or under drugs: 5000-15000 HRK (690-2069 EUR) or up to 60 days of prison.USEFUL ADVICES IN TRAFFIC:
• Allowed amount of alcohol in blood is 0,5 ‰,
• Lights have to be turned on during the day only in winter daylight saving time.
• Inevitable use of seat-belt,
• Forbidden use of cell phones while driving.SPEED LIMITS:
• Inhabitated places 50 km/h,
• Outside of inhabitated places 90 km/h,
• Motorways 110 km/h,
• Highways 130 km/h.
