Maslinica (island Solta) Locate On Map

Maslinica (Croatia, Central Dalmatia, Island Solta) is the only Solta's village located in the cove of the western part of the island. It has beautiful scenery and pine wood in the south side and also it has well-protected cove of Sesul and the archipelago of seven islands.

On the biggest of them an old Christian church with monastery was built in the 5th and 6th century and today there are plenty of remains of it. The natural olive scenery complete historical-architectonic and environmental values of baroque castle and beautiful local houses. Maslinica was created in 1703 when an aristocratic family Marchi asked a Venetian “providur” permission to found a new settlement and to build a castle with towers to defend from frequent pirate attacks. Nowadays the castle is turned into an attractive and a very famous restaurant "Conte Alberti".

Today Maslinica is very attractive for tourists who desire a complete peace through day and night. Ferries and ships don't come here so Maslinica is connected to Split by bus through Rogač. Since Maslinica is old and traditional village there's no modern beach with tourist attractions. In the bay of Tepli Bok there's a small beach, but the main beauty of this village is that in any bay you can find a great place for swimming.
