Slano (Croatia, South Dalmatia) is a small town and a harbour in the bay Slano. Slano is located 37 kilometres nortwest from the Dubrovnik. Economy is based on a tourism, farming, fishing, olive growing, fruit growing, viniculture, tobacco and herbs growing. Main state road is coming through Slano. Harbor is protected from the wing and it is suitable for a small boats and yachts. Larger yachts can be docked on the entrance in the cove, southwest of Cape Gornji.
First inhabitants of Slano came in the prehistoric period and in the ancient times. Slano felt under the rule of the Dubrovnik Republic in 1399. Historical monuments in Slano are ruins of hill-fort and tumuli on the hill nearby, Roman castrum on the Gradina hill, Franciscan church which owns an early Christian sarcophagi, built in 16th century and duke`s palace, reconstructed at the end of the 19th century.
