Sipanska luka (Croatia, South Dalmatia, Island Sipan) is located on the island of Sipan, which is the largest island in the Elaphite archipelago. Sipan is located 17 km west from Dubrovnik. Kolocep Channel divides Sipan from the mainland. Inhabitants mostly live from tourism, olive growing, wine growing, orange and citrus growing... Tourism is very important for Sipan inhabitants. Small island of Ruda is located on the south-east part of the island of Sipan.
Island of Sipan has a two main towns, Sipanska Luka and Sudurad. Island is daily connected with Dubrovnik by a ferry line. First traces of Island of Sipan comes from 1371. There are many architectural monuments on the Island of Sipan, like remains of Roman villas in Sipanska Luka, remains of Church of Saint Peter on Velji Point from 11th century, Church of Saint Ivan with frescos from 11th century and it was expanded in the 15th century in Silova Sela, pre-romantic Church of Saint Michael from 11th century, romantic-gothic house, gothic tower and Renaissance Church of the Holy Spirit from 16th century. Also, there is a late Gothic Church of Saint Stephan, built in 15th century, and it owns a painting of Pantaleone and a Gothic Rector`s Palace, constructed in 1450 above the Sipanska Luka. Many government officials from Dubrovnik built their summer houses in Sipanska Luka in 15th century.
