Vrsar - Tourism
Vrsar (Croatia, Istria) is old fishing town situated on the west coast of Croatian largest peninsula Istria. It is located at the outlet of the Lim Gulf on a hill 54 m high and it is one of the most beautiful Istrian towns.
From Roman time there were kept remains of mosaics and bungalows, and from 13th century City Gate and other cultural and historical monuments. Name of Vrsar is very old and it has been found in mediaevil and latin documents as Ursaria, Ursarium, Vrsarium, Orsaria... In 19th century Vrsar started to develope outside of city walls.
In World War 2. battles between Germans and partizans were led. In 1945. Vrsar was freed and in 1947. with whole Istria belonged to Croatia in former Yugoslavia. Since 1991. it has belonged to independent Republic of Croatia.
Vrsar offers accommodation in hotels, apartments, camps and private houses. There is posibility of biking, diving, playing tennis, hiking, or going to excursions. Vrsar also has beautiful nature and clean sea. Vrsar`s hotels offer all day long parties and animations. On Vrsar waterfront many tourist parties are kept.

- The Church of St. Anthony from 17th century, in Renaissance-Baroque style, with a painting of St. Anthony with the Saints on the wooden Venetian altar;
- The Old Romanesque Gate, called the small town gate, built in 13th century;

- Early Christian basilica;
- Parish Church of St. Martin;
- The Church of St. Fosca;
